School wasn’t always easy for me so when I ended up finding out that I had a medical condition in junior high it was devastating. I started having seizures which then started to hurt my attendance at school. Then when I was a freshman in high school I had a baby and while I was pregnant my seizures just got worse. Having a baby young wasn’t what I had planned for myself but if I am being honest she is the best thing that has happened to me. Between having a baby and seizures school just ended up being bad for me. It made it to my senior year and had to drop out of school because I didn’t have anyone to watch my daughter and I didn’t have enough credits to graduate anyways. I spent years sad and depressed about the fact that everyone I went to school with was doing amazing with life and graduated and graduated college but here I am with no education. I told myself that once I was able to get my license then I would figure something out to better my life and to further my education. I was out of school for 7 years.  It wasn’t until September 2018 when I heard about the Excel Center from a friend that actually attended there. I went to the Greentown fair where they have a booth there and I talked to some of the staff members there. After that I went home and talked with my family and decided that this is what I wanted to do. I went back to school because of my daughter honestly. She told me that she was going to drop out of school just like mommy did and I just couldn’t let that happen. Education is very important and I wanted her to see that no matter what you have to keep going. If it wasn’t for the free child care then I wouldn’t have been able to do it. I graduated in May of 2020 from the Excel Center! It was the best accomplishment that I have made for myself in a very long time. The Excel Center is the most amazing place and they have the most caring staff members ever. I honestly love them all! After graduating I was looking for more and that's when I found out about this amazing class! I got to this class because even though I already had a certification I wanted more! I wanted to be in the medical field but the more and more I looked into this I loved it and it really spiked an interest in what I wanted to do in life. I took on this class not expecting it to be as tough as it was. I didn’t realize that a pharmacy technician did all of the things they do. This class is the best class that I have taken in a long time. I took the national first time back in October and I failed it but I got right back up and I started to study and work even harder than I did before. I took the national again in January and I passed it! This made me realize that I am so capable of anything that I set my mind to. That you just have to keep pushing and never ever give up on something that you really want. Katie taught me that you have to believe in yourself she also taught me that I have to not second myself! I also think that Katie helped me see what I am worth. That I am worth so much more than what I gave myself credit for. This class also has given me a few friendships and that I am so very thankful for. If I had to choose all over again I would still choose this class because this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I will never be able to repay all these amazing people that have helped me along the way of this journey that I have went on.
