I enrolled into the Excel center in late February, I was hoping to quickly complete a GED/ highschool diploma course as I had also started a job at Walgreens fufuillment center as a pharmacy technician in training. A high school diploma is required to be a Pharmacy technician. While figuring out my class schedule one of the coaches told me about the KLR pharmacy technician class, and I thought wow it’s free and only Eight weeks, sign me up please. I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. Originally I was set to graduate high school in 2006, however distractions got more interesting than learning and I stopped going. Now I’m a mom of two, and my oldest is now in high school. I talk both their ears off constantly about the importance of education, so I decided to take my own advice and go back to school.

I will admit that I was bit worried in the beginning, as I didn’t think I would be able to balance school, motherhood, and work. Determined to face my fears I just kept going, and doing my very best. Katie’s class was amazing, the entire KLR team was so helpful and patient. You’re taught exactly what you need to know, and the lessons are taught multiple times to ensure that you understand. What I enjoyed the most about the class was the support from my other class mates and the team at KLR, everyone was very helpful. I loved the fact that the KLR team does not let you fall behind, you’re reminded about missing assignments. Katie has a way of making you feel confident in yourself and they believed in me more than I believed in myself. The chapters were assigned, we went over them numerous times before moving on, they made sure I really understood the assignment and never let me struggle.

What I take away from this class is that I CAN DO HARD THINGS. If you want something bad enough, you’ll work hard to get it. I plan to use my certification to obtain a job in a hospital, I’ve learned alot about compounding medications and I’m eager to see exactly how it’s done. My goal after graduation is to sign up with the Indiana National Guard to continue my education while working at a hospital .
