April Crowe
Veterinary Assistant
My name is April Crowe. I'm from the small town of Junction City, Kentucky. I'm married to my best friend that I've known since grade school. We've been married for 6 years and been together for 7. I have two wonderful step kids who I love as my own. I currently work at Goodwill, where they helped me get this certification. My career coach had approached me with the opportunity to enroll in KLR Vet Assistant class and I'm so glad I did. I learned so much during my 8 week course. My classes were from October 4th to November 18th. I learned about animals, the all around well being of them and myself. I learned to push and believe in myself. I also learned that it's never too late to chase your dreams. I've dreamed about working with animals since I was a little girl but never had the opportunity or the finances to do so. As I got older it was hard to work a full time job and do college courses at the same time. With KLR I was able to do both. I still worked a full-time job and did my classes. KLR worked with me and so did my employer. Katie (the CEO) is awesome at what she does. She makes sure you get through your classes with her support and help. She's understanding of your day to day life and will work with you as long as you put in the effort for yourself. Daniel (my instructor) was so awesome, very smart, helpful, and taught us everything we needed to know to be able to successfully complete our exams. He was always encouraging us that we can do this, he went above and beyond to make sure we felt confident in the material that was taught to us. I enjoyed all the Kahoot games we played together and the projects we did. What helped me most in class is how each of us students was always there to help each other and lifted each other up when we would get the jitters about taking the exams. We would all encourage each other that we were going to do great. When I first started the classes I was a nervous wreck and doubted myself but with my support from home and the support from everyone at KLR I was able to get past that and complete my certification. My goal is now to get a job in a vet's office or an animal hospital to finally start my career doing what I have a strong passion and love for, which is helping every animal as much as I possibly can.
